Thoughts at the Guggenheim

Nick Cave is an artist with an excellent exhibition at the Guggenheim. "I'm very interested in this kind of reimagining and repositioning of discarded objects, where what we knew of it in the past is relegated to some new meaning or understanding..." His sculptures are large pieces made of once loved Knick knacks or collections - inexpensive ceramic birds or dogs.

The plaster of Paris statue made for me by a former 3rd grade student (now in college) still stands in my home. The lumpy clay objects my children made in elementary school are priceless. No sculpture resting place in their future.
