By accident I finally have a room that works for orchids. It's amazing to see these lovely plants return time after time with new blooms. Something about the humidity and the drop in temperature at night. I forget to water them. My husband overwaters them. Still, they surprise us returning to life with beautiful creamy tones of white. It is the only houseplant I can keep.

Like you, I have luck with orchids. Not sure why. Grateful that these elegant plants continue to surprise me with beautiful blooms. Lisa
Ohhh orchids! I happen to have two of them, and I will tell you that strangely, they're the only houseplant I can manage to keep alive. Something about my specific pattern of benign neglect just happens to be what the doctor ordered.
And...welcome to the Slice of Life Challenge! I'm so glad you're joining us this year. I know you've been having some technical difficulties, but I hope that doesn't stop you. I'd love to keep reading your work!
I love the tone of humility- by luck you “found” the perfect room, even though you and your husband dont water correctly it all works out! And I never thought of the drop in temp at night as important… hmmm.
This paragraph is a small, heartfelt celebration.
I'm a huge fan of orchids. I have eight of them in my classroom from September through April. Right now, one is blooming and another one is about to bloom. They bring me so much joy. One year a student showed his mother and she couldn't believe they were real. April through August, the orchids live at my house because the school window is too sunny during the spring and summer. Enjoy your blooms!
